- There are two types of alcohol problems in the world, willful abuse and pathological dependence, also referred to as alcoholism; increasing the difficulty in obtaining alcohol has been reported to reduce alcohol abuse but not in cases of alcohol dependence.
- Nearly two-thirds of children 15 and younger who died in alcohol-related motor vehicle crashes were riding with the drinking driver, 20% of which were properly restrained at the time of the crash, and that restraint use decreased as the driver's blood alcohol concentration increased.
- One 12-oz. beer, one 5-oz. glass of wine and one 1.5 oz. shot of liquor have equal amounts of alcohol.
- Women with eating disorders have a much greater incidence of alcohol abuse than those women in the general population.
